Shirady Ghat damaged again!

We never seem to learn.... Shirday ghat is back to square one.

Neither the Bus Lobby want Trains to Mangalore nor does the Iron Ore/Lorry Lobby want a freight corridor. Both want to desperately use Shirady Ghat. This Shirady Ghat fiasco has become a symbol of how powerful lobbies have become in our "people's republic" of India. We we as a strong nation can rock America and the rest of the world by signing a nuclear deal, we do not even have to power to curtail lobbies in Karnataka.

Tree Exchange

I was wondering, why not create an "Electronic Tree Exchange" right here on Praja. The aim of this should be simple - exchange trees between people instead of killing them outright.

For example, a mall feels having a fully grown Gulmohar tree is blocking it's access and wants to take it down.

But in another part of a city, a citizen has space for the tree in his/her plot. The mall can post details of the tree and the citizen interested could take it from the mall at the cost of the citizen or any other arrangment between the donor and taker.

Lodging and Boarding in Bangalore - Enough and Reasonable?

It seems we have a 'Nack' of overlooking some imporatant needs of the city. We try to overlook the need and at times go to an extent that we rubbishes the need. This needs suddenly erupts like a volcano and then suddenly we wake up from our deep sleeps and myopic urges, we start shouting from roof tops about the volcanoes. Then we start blaming everybody except ourselves. In order to beat the others in this blaming game we give ourselves tags like experts and what not.
