Like many others, I was very happy when the Public Works Coordination Agreement was put in place to have better coordination between various civic agencies.
Both Gali Janardhan Reddy and his brother-in-law B Srinivas Reddy have been lodged at the Central Crime Station (CCS) lockup which is 'famous' for bandicoots paying a visit now and then. Sources told Express that in the absence of a cell in the CBI office at Koti, CBI joint director VV Lakshminarayana has decided to keep the duo in the CCS lockup.
It is quite unfortunate that the Honourable High Court of Karnataka had quashed the BDA recent preliminary Notification for acquisition of 372 acres of land in connection with the formation of Peripheral Ring Road to ease the vehicular traffic. BDA wanted this extent of land for approach roads and Toll Plazas. Further, they needed land for forming FLY OVERS.
So how do we fix gridlock? IBM says building more (or wider) roads won't help—not enough space or money. The answer lies in data. Which makes sense, as IBM makes money by processing and selling data. But it does make sense—taking the roads we have already and routing traffic through them more efficiently.
The demolition of the house of renowned novelist R K Narayan which began here on Monday to make way for an apartment complex came to a halt with the Mysore City Corporation (MCC) proposing to conserve it as a heritage monument. The MCC will initiate further action; until then, it has ordered suspension of all work.
Observation :Now I am using BMTC services almost daily (Mostly route 378) and getting a feel of the BMTC customer facing staff and their attitudes and langauges. I observed at least 25% conductors use rude language by default. What I mean by default is usage of poor language without any provocation by commuter's behavior or age or gender.
