The Lokayukta should be made into an autonomous body, independent of the political executive. The appointment of Lokayuktas should be based on the recommendations of the Chief Justice of India in consultation with the Chief Justice of the respective High Court and a sound procedure for removal of the Lokayuktas should be established.
