Bangalore: Residents of Rashad Nagar continue to face the problems of open drainage and under-constructed roads even after repeated reminders to the Corporation.
"All open drainage big or small should be covered and should be attached to the linked pumps to pull out the excreta ", said, Kaivara Shira a resident.
Chief engineer of storm and water drainage in Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP), Chikraiyapa said that he was not aware of the problem.
"I will definitely draw my attention there and will start the upgrading work", he added.
BBMP has in total 8 divisions in Bangalore city and from which Rashad Nagar comes in Thanisandra division.
Engineer Nagraj of BBMP Thanisandra assured that the City Corporation will look into the matter and will take required action.
Mukhbir, an employee in a shop in Rashad Nagar mentioned that people get stuck on the road linking the colony damaging their shoes while walking as well as vehicles getting grounded for long hours.
Syed Hamansilla, an elderly man said that other than Govindpura (Rashad Nagar) there are list of other roads existing within the city whose condition is miserable.
He pointed out the list of potholed roads, right from Hoskote to Bidadi and from Devanahalli to Bannerghatta to Attibele.
Open drainage problem is also causing other concerns for the residents of Rashad Nagar.
Hasina Taj, a housewife complained that the water supply in the area is not very clean which ultimately is leading to a lot of health problems.
Subhu Roy, a local area resident who runs a petty shop said that there are no hospitals within a 10 kilometer radius and there are just two clinics " which don’t solve our problems."
Asha, a housewife said that skin disease is quite common in this area.
She further said that during the summer season there are some skin blemishes or blotchiness, which is commonly faced by the children in Rashad Nagar.
She highlighted some of the other dangers where people were seen throwing garbage on both sides of the road that poses a greater danger to health care.
“Developing a proper garbage dumping system is the need of the hour”, she added.
Ekbal Shamuddin showed his discontentment for the BBMP engineers and officials saying that they don’t bother to take any corrective measures and 10 years from now people are going to face regular problems when it comes to traveling on roads and also health-related issues.
“There are various stretches of road in the city that are in bad shape and among them Thanisandra is the worst,” he added.
