Mid-Day Meals - Philanthropy to the rescue of inept government service!

A day before on my departure to US, I had the good fortune to visit "Mohsin Shariff Education & Charitable Trust Mid-Day Meals Programme" operations located in K R Puram. This trust every day prepares and delivers the 'Mid-Day Meals" for the government schools students in and around Bengaluru.

Mr Farook vs MLA Sampangi @ Kolar - story trail

This is an interesting one from Lokayukta's list. Not sure if all of you remember the case of Kolar MLA caught taking bribe. The story here is different from Land conversions or bloated tenders. read the trail

The Hindu, Jan 30, 2009 - KGF MLA caught after 'accepting' bribe (link)

Prostitution in Bangalore CITY - on the rise?

I wonder how are we all silent about this sensitive topic, Call girls / gigolos are in raise in bangalore, and speaking of which I am a victim of it too, indirectly I must say, My story goes this way;

Karnataka, Corruption and Numbers

A book to hold together numbers regarding corruption in Karnataka. Thanks to Lokayukta and the likes, there are a good number of corruption related cases against high profile politicians in courts of Karnataka. Since actual investigations are on, fir the first time, we are seeing a lot of numbers being put to this "elephant in the room" called corruption.

Bengaluru Ministers & Corruption - in numbers

With so many high profile guys in jail, or at the door steps, one good thing that I see is that Media is becoming more and more comfortable carrying numbers in their reports on corruption. What we knew and heard through the 'grapevine', now has concrete numbers. But this is probably because of well documented and researched Lokayukta reports.

Bus Breakdowns Plaguing BMTC

My 25 km one way daily commute for the past 10 months has meant covering a swathe of Bangalore's suburuban areas.  A common observation during this time has been seeing 2-3 BMTC buses broken down every day.  This includes buses across the spectrum.  Ordinary buses ranging from old to the relatively new JNNURM ones, Janti Vahanas (trailer buses), Volvos, Marco Polos etc.

Pre-announcing upcoming projects - contact us if interested

On behalf of Praja RAAG, wanted to pre-announce a few projects in the area of public transportation (most popular subject here) that are on the anvil. We will take a couple of these forward depending on interest levels and availability of enthusiastic individuals who have been driving such projects.

Uncaring passers by left an accident victim to die near Mekhri Circle

What a tragedy. A young man lost his life in our own Namma Bengaluru not because he was drunk or speeding in a Ferrari or Mazda sports car? This young man, Arjun Nair, an MBA aspirant was knocked down by a speeding KSTDC cab on Bellary Road near Mekhri Circle.

Bellanduru is 2,500 years old!!

Was very surprised to read about the history of Bellandur lake in The Hindu the other day..

The little village of Bellanduru, around which the suburb has grown, has a history that dates back 2,500 years. One of the annual reports of the Archaeological Survey of Mysore State talks of ancient Iron Age tombs discovered on the lake bund.
