This is to update on the progress of ESAF in creating awareness and celebration of the same on account of International Car Free Day which falls on 22nd Sept. As this year we found more like minded people who are interested for the program, we have scheduled programs for 2 weeks.
Due to Ganesha Festival and Bharath Bandh announced, the programs scheduled are from 21st September which will be continued till 4th October as per the convenient of each corporates and educational institutions. Some more corporates are expected to join the program apart from listed below

Car Free Day Awareness Campaign
Evangelical Social Action Forum in association with Healthbridge Foundation of Canada is organising programs for celebrating International car free day in Bangalore from 23rd September till 4th Oct, 2012. Two weeks programs will have awareness and signature campaign at different colleges & Corporates in Bangalore.
Campaigns like this will promote alternate forms of transportation, active lifestyles, safe environment for pedestrains especially children & elderly, less pollution, save on money & fuel and encourages us to be in a healthy environment.
ESAF will be organising awareness programs and signature campaigns in various educational institutions like St. Joseph’s Arts & Science College, Mount Carmel College & Kristu Jayanthi College. Competitions such as collage and painting based on the theme “The City I want to live in” also will be held from 23rd onwards.
In Azim Premji University ESAF has already initiated awareness campaign a week back which will be continued till 23rd September.
Cognizant Technolgies Solutions (CTS), ORACLE, SASKEN Technologies will have awareness campaign at all their campuses. CTS to have awareness campaign from 24th -26th at their three campuses along with the signature campaign. ORACLE also has similar intiative in 2 of their campus in Bangalore from 21st onwards. SASKEN Technologies have designed a special intiaitve as part of their “Joy of Giving” week program where employees are encouraged to particpate in the car free day awareness program by supporting ESAF on 4th October. They are encouraged to use public transport and last mile connectivity is organised by the company as part of supporting the nature by not using the car on 4th October, 2012.
Car Free Day awareness posters are displayed at Crossword, Sapna book centre, Asian Trading Corporation, Just book community library chain, Gopalan Grandeur apartment, CUPPA, MTR eateries @ Forum Mall. Other book stores in the city will also have the poster display from tomorrow till the weekend. On 22nd September leaflets will be distributed through newspaper.
The team expects that awareness campaign at various locations will have a reach of nearly one lakh people. These initiatives and signature campaign will encourage the government to provide better access to public transportation especially the last mile connectivity.
