Hawking - the questions rise again

Recently, a group of residents from certain streets in Koramangala petitioned to the ward level authorities to evict food-vending hawkers from the neighbourhood. Some were on pavements and some occupied vacant plots. After many meetings, the authorities obliged. In some cases, the carts reappeared the same day.

A week from now, a woman police officer will be manning Bangalore City  west division traffic, with 21 traffic police stations and four sub-divisions under her purview.

Updates from BMRC meeting

The meeting was delayed & began only at 4.40PM since BMRC officials were busy till then. Flwg items discussed & status advised by BMRC :

1) BMTC feeder services will be operated upon commissioning of Metro for 3km distances from all stations. Ticketing will be made common for feeder buses & Metro. Smart cards with online recharge facilities will be made available.

An easy and safe Park and go option - Impose heavy fines for parking violations

During my recent visit to Commercial Street on two ocassions, I witnessed a series of parking violations. Although there are traffic wardens, parking bays and payment options, I noticed drivers parking at will ignoring the inconvenience of the other commuters.

Meeting with BMRC, Friday

We will not be able to take more than 5 people along, so please respond soonest since we have to resort to 'first come first serve' basis & give priority to more senior praja members.

Police ticketing BMTC

 A short report:  I saw a traffic policeman giving a challan to a BMTC bus that was parked awkwardly on the down ramp from Marathalli bridge.  Excellent start.  I want to see challans for improper parking at bus stops, illegal U-turns, ignoring lane discipline etc.

Arrogance personified

In a crude show of political might, labour minister B N Bacche Gowda and his gunman physically assaulted a family which dared to overtake the minister’s vehicle. When Bharat (the driver of the vehicle) questioned if he had committed any crime by overtaking the minister’s vehicle, Gowda allegedly stepped out of his car and physically assaulted Bharat.
