Beware of Change Snatchers - I am a Victim

Beware of Change Snatchers. I had a bad experience today. Two people came in an auto while I was in bus stop and requested change for Rs.500. I said I do not have, but they insisted to check and they have struggled hard to get change. I again said I do not have, but they said 'nivu educated aagiddu obbarige help madalvenri'. I checked my wallet and I had change. I asked him for the note and gave 500 change. Passenger in auto again asked I have 1000 Rs, give me two 500s. I gave 2 500s, they said there is shortage of 50 and gave me back the currency. I said my office bus is coming make it fast.  They started and went away.

I was looking into them, I never saw both of them keeping money. Once they went and I counted currency, Rs.600 was missing. I couldn't even see the auto registration no. May be they have made Rs 500 and 100 to fall within auto . Auto Driver looked very honest with kumkum on his forehead :)

My colleague also had similar experience. Everyone, please don't keep all the money in the wallet. Keep 50-100 in pocket and do not open your wallet. Never entertain change unless your close friends or colleagues!

This may not be meaningful blog, but an alert to everyone.

Many such incidents.. No proper policing

I had two other bad experiences, one was too bad even after complaining to police there was no use.

Two years back I was returning from office. As soon as I got down of the cab and started crossing the road, triple ride scooterists came very fast on the wrong side. I had a fracture in my leg at that time and was crossing slowly, these  folks wanted to run their scooter over me and have fun. I threatened to beat them to protect myself, but they got down of the scooter and started slapping me. To protect myself I had to slap them back. Finally  one guy came and I was protected. But no one dared to speak and hand over them to police.

I called up 100, they said to wait there itself. But the person over there said to go home to stop further confrontations.

Next day I lodged a complaint at Girinagar police station giving the details of the vehicle number. Even after two years, no action has been taken. My mother stopped me from following up too and to forget as a bad incident.

Recently, two guys on a motorcycle coming in opposite way of my car were hitting the mirrors of the car with their bike handle for fun and they hit my car's mirror as well. When I shouted at them, they reversed bike and started chasing my car. I had to make them to follow my car till home. Those guys asked me to get out of the car and threatened to break the glasses of the car. Near home few of neighbours who could speak strongly came outside home and sent them away. Otherwise again I would have been trouble.

Again, in both the incidents, all of them were drunk. That is why I strongly support the BTP's move against drunken driving. This is still not effective, only in few central locations like Ulsoor Gate, drunken driving is tested. Near my home, right in front of bus stop, there are couple of bars. People come there in bikes, have drinks and drive recklessly all over. Traffic police could easily stand there and catch hold of them, but they do not do so. There will be usually nexus between bar owners and local police.

You thought the auto driver was honest because he had kumkum on his forehead? Don't be so naive. Number of our netas have kumkum on their forehead. Do you think they are honest?

Right Mahesh, it all happened in minutes, without much thought process. Have to be really careful and no dealing with strangers unless it is verbal transaction like address or something.

Tricked by an auto driver

My mother in law lost Rs. 1,000 to an auto driver. He wanted change for a thousand and my MIL gave him the change in hundreds and fifties. He told her that he had hidden the note under the passenger seat as a safety measure. She got down the auto and he sped away.

Hope others dont fall for this trick.

The cops in Bangalore have a habit of patrolling areas, which are teeming with eateries. It is a common site to see the cops at Krishna Garden every evening. The reason is simple, there are six push carts serving a wide variety of delicacies.

They are never found on the road leading upto BGS. This road requires a lot more patrolling as it is unsafe and isolated.
