Praja also in Kannada!

We are glad to announce availaibility of Praja also in Kannada. Although users could create posts and comments in Kananda since the beginning, starting today users will be able to see a lot of the interface elements in Kannada as well.

Moreover, members could now also translate useful posts from English to Kannada or vice-versa allowing more members to access useful content in a language of their choice. Members interested in translating the content can mail tech at praja.in and they will be given suitable rights to acces translation interface.

You can see praja in Kannada here. If you have difficulty reading Kannada text or writing in Kannada, look at these pages for some help.

ಕನ್ನಡ ಬಲ್ಲ ಪ್ರಜಾ ಸದಸ್ಯರಿಗೆ ಒಂದು ಸಂತಸದ ಸುದ್ದಿ. ಇಂದಿನಿಂದ ಪ್ರಜಾದಲ್ಲಿ ಕನ್ನಡ ಇಂಟರ್ ಫೇಸ್ ಅನ್ನು ಪ್ರಾಯೋಗಿಕವಾಗಿ ಒದಗಿಸುತ್ತಿದ್ದೇವೆ. ಕನ್ನಡದಲ್ಲಿ ಬರೆಯುವ ಸೌಲಭ್ಯ ಪ್ರಜಾದಲ್ಲಿ ಮೊದಲಿನಿಂದಲೇ ಇದ್ದರೂ, ಇಂದಿನಿಂದ ಸದಸ್ಯರು ಹಲವಾರು ಲಿಂಕ್ ಗಳನ್ನೂ, ಆಯ್ಕೆಗಳನ್ನೂ ಕನ್ನಡದಲ್ಲಿಯೇ ನೋಡಬಹುದು.

ಇದಲ್ಲದೇ, ಇಂಗ್ಲೀಷ್ ನಲ್ಲಿ ಇರುವ ಲೇಖನಗಳನ್ನು ಕನ್ನಡಕ್ಕೆ (ಅಥವಾ ಕನ್ನಡದಿಂದ ಇಂಗ್ಲೀಷಿಗೆ) ಭಾಶಾಂತರ ಕೂಡ ಮಾಡಬಹುದು. ಭಾಶಾಂತರ ಮಾಡಲು ಆಸಕ್ತಿ ಇರುವ ಸದಸ್ಯರು tech 'at' praja.in ಗೆ ಮೈಲ್ ಮಾಡಿದರೆ ಸೂಕ್ತ ಅನುಮತಿಯನ್ನು ಕೊಡಲಾಗುವುದು.

ಪ್ರಜಾವನ್ನು ಕನ್ನಡದಲ್ಲಿ ನೋಡಲು ಇಲ್ಲಿ ಹೋಗಬಹುದು.

Last week we discussed KRDCL's decision to involve a creative agency to improve driver behaviour. The enthusiasm of praja members was evident and several of us wondered if it is worth giving a shot at this!!

As cosmic coincidence would have it, we also got hooked to satiric videos from a Bangalore based groups of youngsters on youtube. Our friends from mindry.in make wonderful, homemade, 100% organic videos that mock popular culture, Current affairs, News, Controversies, TV shows, Personalities and just about everything else.

In what consultants would call a 'synergistic opportunity', we put the one and one together and asked them if they will be game to jump in with us on this.

As the summer months progress and our hydro-electric reservoirs dry down, along comes the dreaded load-shedding. While it is true that the demand for electricity is far greater than the supply, I guess there is surely something we can do to shorten this gap from the supply end. For this post, I would skip the issues with ‘leakage’ or electricity and ‘grid inefficiency’ and would discuss about the technical and policy aspects at the end-user level. ಕಳೆದ ವರ್ಷದ ನಾಟಕಗಳು ಎಲ್ಲಾ ಮುಗಿದು ನಮ್ಮ ರಾಜಕಾರಣಿಗಳು ಮನೇಲಿ ಬೆಚ್ಚಗೆ ಕೂತಿರೋದರಿಂದ ಒಂದು ಲಾಭ ಅಂದರೆ, ಸಾರ್ವಜನಿಕ ಕೆಲಸಗಳಿಗೆ ಅಡ್ಡಗಾಲು ಹಾಕುವವರು ಕಮ್ಮಿಯಾಗಿ ಸುಮಾರು ಕೆಲಸಗಳು ಬೇಗ ಬೇಗ ಮುಗೀತಾ ಇವೆ. ಹಾಗೋ ಹೀಗೋ ಬಿಡಿಎ ನವರು ಒಂದಿಷ್ಟು underpassಗಳು ಮಾಡ್ತಾ ಇದಾರೆ, airport ಕೆಲಸ ಚೆನ್ನಾಗಿ ನಡೆದು, ಜಾಸ್ತಿ ಗಲಾಟೆ ಇಲ್ಲದೆ ಮುಗಿದಿದೆ. ಒಟ್ಟಿನಲ್ಲಿ ನಮ್ಮ ನಾಟಕದ ಕಂಪನಿಗಳು ಇಲ್ಲದೇ ಇದ್ದಾಗ ಕೆಲಸಗಳು ಸುಗಮವಾಗಿ ನಡಿತಾ ಇತ್ತು ಅನ್ನೊದಂತೂ ನಿಜ.

It is official. The new opening date for the Bangalore International Airport is 11th May. Below is the message from BIAL:

New Airport Opening Date for Bengaluru International Airport is May 11, 2008

Bangalore, March 13, 2008

We have received communication from the Ministry of Civil Aviation seeking a consideration of a suitable airport opening date after May 10, 2008 due to delays on the Air Traffic Control (ATC) services. BIAL has decided the new date of Airport Opening as May 11, 2008.

We are clearly disappointed with this delay especially as our employees and all our partners have been working tirelessly to launch Bengaluru International Airport on schedule on March 30, 2008. This delay is beyond the control of BIAL. To mark the successful readiness of the airport infrastructure, BIAL will hold an event to showcase the new airport on March 28th 2008.

ಬಹಳ ದಿನಗಳಿಂದ ನಮ್ಮಲ್ಲಿ ಕೆಲವರು ಬಸ್ ಲೇನ್ ಬೇಕು, ಬಸ್ ಲೇನ್ ಬೇಕು ಅಂತ ಆಸೆ ಪಡ್ತಾ ಇದ್ವಲ್ಲ, ನಮ್ಮ ಕನಸು ಸಧ್ಯದಲ್ಲೇ ನನಸಾಗೋ ಹಾಗೆ ಕಾಣಿಸ್ತಾ ಇದೆ.

ಪ್ರಜಾವಾಣಿಯ ಈ ಸುದ್ದಿ ಪ್ರಕಾರ ಬಸ್ ಲೇನ್ ಗಳನ್ನ ಪ್ರಾಯೋಗಿಕವಾಗಿ ಪರೀಕ್ಷೆ ಮಾಡೋ ಆಲೋಚನೆ ಇದೆಯಂತೆ.

With all the political drama going on in the state, the Chamalapura issue seems to be of little interest to the politicians currently. But nevertheless, you would not be surprised if the issue is opened again in the near future when things are settles at Vidhana Soudha. We got access to one of the documentaries made by Anti-Chamalapura-Powerplant activists through Mr. E.R.Ramachandran and we are glad to share it with you here.
