Seeing the used plastic cups, lying amongst other waste, in a bin, Dr Meenakshi Bharath, the SWM evangelist, dramatically bent down and started picking up the cups one by one with bare hands. This was at lunch time following the meeting of RWA's, convened by the Namma Bengaluru Foundation last Saturday, at the Koramangala Club. Taken by surprise, and a bit of shock, the organisers, club managers, etc collected around to say that they will have it done. The good doctor however continued till she had "segregated" all the cups in the bin, effectively conveying her message to all present.

Earlier, she had made a powerful presentation on the subject to the gathering.

Likewise is the example (excerpts from a report on the same in the Hindustan Timess are reproduced below - the full report may be accessed here) set by Mr Praveen Kumar, IAS, Dy Commissioner, Faridabad.

Kumar went back to the school that hot, summer afternoon, lugging his bucket and broom. As astonished students and staff watched, he swirled cleaning liquid and water into the Indian-style squat toilet. After 20 vigorous minutes, the toilet was clean.

May their tribe increase.

Just outside the club, located in the heart of swanky Koramangala, the scene however was totally different. The picture below says it all.
