In May 2008 I had walked down Nanda Main Road from 45th cross (Ring Road) to South End Signal and back documenting through pictures the trees that formed the boulevard. I had, like many others, assumed that many trees were likely to be extensively trimmed, if not cut down completely. Yes, there is extensive trimming no doubt, given that the trees planted on this road tend to have branches spreading across in all directions - including over the road then, and now over the overhead metro line.
Recently, I just cycled a smaller portion from 45th cross to the 4th block metro station and captured the state of some of the trees again. Sharing the link to those photos.
I believe that there are plans that may lead to a lot more trees being cut down between 40th Cross and 45th Cross Jayanagar, in order to support the construction of yet another line. If so, BMRCL and BBMP should ensure that where possible they should plant new trees, preferably ones that do not spread too wide, so that dust and other air pollution for the remaining homes in the area is somewhat contained
