Yesterday, on Dec 10th, a workshop on 'Suburban Rail' for elected representatives was organzied jointly by Praja-RAAG, Bangalore Needs You and IIMB. This was an initiative by Prof. Rajeev Gowda to bring the awareness among the elected representative. This workshop was organized at Conference Hall in Vidhana Soudha.
As you all know recently the former Chief Secretary Shri. Ranganath had sent the formal propsoal on 'Bangalore Suburban Rail Service' to Railway Board. Subsequent to that progress by GOK, Tumkur MP Shri. G. S.
The Karnataka government has asked the Ministry of Railways to not only approve a commuter rail system (CRS) for the city, but also be an active partner in Bangalore Suburban Railway Company Ltd.

Chikballapur station getting two Platforms part of Chikabbalpur - Kolar broad gauge conversion. SWR has failed to create on island PF with pit lines for the Suburban Rail and even to run intercity trains.

Railway Minister Mallikarjuna Kharge on Saturday urged the State government to hasten acquisition process of Binny Mill land abutting the City Railway Station so that the Railways can make a beginning with the Commuter Rail System (CRS) for Bangalore.
