Over the months, we have tried to get Government to enforce the rule of law and bring to a halt the illegal constructions opposite Agara lake by Mantri and Salarpuria (check this).

Efforts to get them to act have hit a dead end.

We have talked to the various stake holders in HSR Bellandur etc.

The opinion of most people consulted is that we must organize a massive public protest on this issue.

The citizen community from Bellandur, HSR Layout and Koramangala would therefore like to organize a public protest on SUNDAY, 23rd MARCH 2014 at Agara lake. Time: 10.30 AM

Why is Koramangala affected by this project ?
1. This project will destroy Bellandur lake, the largest in Bangalore. Destruction of Bellandur will deplete the already perilously low ground water table in the entire area.

2. BWSSB is committing supply of upwards of 150 million litres per month to the project. That much water is not being supplied to the entire Koramangala and HSR areas put together. The builder lobby will get their 150 million litres of water because of their clout. Koramangala will be reduced to a dust bowl.

3. The project aims at bringing in 21000 extra cars per hour at peak. That was not a misprint ! The only access will be through Sarjapur Road. Inevitably all our roads in Koramangala will be clogged with traffic.

CAN WE PLEASE COUNT ON THE MAXIMUM NUMBER OF PEOPLE COMING TO THE EVENT ?  THIS IS CRITICAL TO THE LONG TERM SURVIVAL OF KORAMANGALA AS WE KNOW IT.

TELL YOUR FRIENDS. TELL YOUR NEIGHBOURS. BUT BE THERE.

The protest is being sponsored under the Aegis of Save Bangalore Lakes.

PS: No party flags/ party caps/ party t-shirts. Please leave your political affiliations at home. This is purely a civc protest.

These efforts will save neighbour hood lakes and help citizens to have good quality life with green and water bodies.

How many citizens did  they show up for these efforts ???
