Bangalore Train Commute..

Commuter Rail

I was when going through Google Maps, just go this idea of using Existing Railway track around Bangalore and run local trains on it. This is very similar to how Chennai or Mumbai operates by making use of the same tracks on which inter city trains run. A small analysis i have done by referring Google Maps by identifying tracks that are already there (Only some stations can be built). This approach can be explored to bring in a quick and a effective transport system around Bangalore instead of building Namma Metro which is currently an endless work.

Section one (East)

  1. Whitefield
  2. Railway Quarters (Opp Phoenix Market City mall)
  3. KR Puram station
  4. Bayyappanhalli Station -> Metro to MG Road

Section 2 (South)

  1. KR Puram Station
  2. DRDO (Need to build Station)
  3. Bellandur
  4. Carmelaram
  5. Electronics City (Need to build station)

Section 3 (North)

  1. KR Puram
  2. Banaswadi
  3. Hebbal
  4. Lottegehalli Railway
  5. Yeswantpur Jn.

Section 4: (South West)

  1. Yeswantpur
  2. Malleshwaram
  3. Bangalore City Railway
  4. Nayandalli  Railway
  5. Gnanabharathi
  6. Kengeri

Section 5:

  1. KR Puram
  2. Jakkur Railway (Need to build station)
  3. Yelahanka
  4. To Airport (KIAL) Optional can be extended if required

'Namma Railu' is campaign is all about using the existing railway infrastructure. 4 Years of advocacy has gone into all aspects of running sub-urban rail service.

If anybody is looking for details, pls visit this link - www.praja.in/nammarailu .

Very good analysis sir , yes its a feasable option , as firsts develop old bangalore without putting more pressure , just start networking or linking as you said to use same tracks ....
