The ward, which includes Jayanagar 4th Block, Pattabhiramanagar, Tilak Nagar and Jayanagar 5th Block, has a total area of 1.75 sq km. The population of the ward is 30,989, of whom 15,751 are males. While 40 per cent of the residents are above 60 years of age and 30 per cent are below 18 years. Sri Ramamurthy, the Corporater of this ward has taken the effort to create a database of about 15000 of these residents to keep in touch.
This effort should result in stream lining and accelerating maintenance of civic amenities and exemplary development. It should not be misused for just sending greetings on festival occasions. Bangalore is all familiar with the huge greeting posters showing life size pictures of the Corporaters and their cronies, in the festival season.
The database as such is a great effort in the correct direction. This should be the property of the ward and should be updated and maintained up to date by the citizens of the ward by providing the data online or otherwise.
