Can we get the exact locations where they are going to come & how they will be integrated either at METRO station, Railway Station or BBMP Bus stand.
With So many improvements happening without any integration. Look at how METRO station, Railway station at Yesvantpur and now this skywalk from Yesvantpur station to Total Gas without conencting each other.

Can we have some inputs on the locations of these proposed
Wanted to know how well these skywalks r proposed and purpose will they meet. Has the public consultation or ffedback taken ???
Will their be any corner cuttings to help PPP mode to reduce cost and generate more revenue for them ???
Has any other important locations missed out ???
can we get inpute on the proposed skywalks ???
I Remember Mrs.Manjula told this..
Sanjeev sir,
I remember few months back when we all met Mrs.Manjula at her office to follow up for Namma Railu, you discussed about the pedestrain safty/sky walk along new international airport road. she also said she would involve you and mark copy of the communications related to this project. i am not sure whether any RWA or people who are really interested in giving constructive feed back were involved or not.
anyways, what ever they plan, it should be used by citizens like u and me and it should not be just another case..where public money flows uner the drain.
lets wait and see

Thanks Kamalakar for recalling and finally we had the ground
Finally Yesterday, we had ground logical survey on the proposed 37 skywalks on the North Bangalore.
Also the West, East & South Zone, BBMP had did the feasibility report last year and on that, we had ground reality check with DULT officer.
Earlier I had asked inputs on those 37 Skywalks and where BBMP has missed which are must at this time, without further delay, we shoul have : At Easteem Mall, Manytha Tech Park, Silk Board.
Peenya METRO Station need FOB to cross NH-4 Tumkur Road
Peenya METRO Station just next to Platinum city apartment : Their is no pedestrian facility from this METRO station to cross over the Tumkur Road. Bad planning by the BMRCL in providing proper FOB for commuters at this station.
But BMRCL is already providing FOB to cross Mysore road at Mysore Road METRO Station. Its not too late, BMRCL should provide the FOB to connect Peenya METRO station to Tumkur Road NH-4.

City to get six skywalks in a month
All skywalks to be equipped with a lift
Six skywalks will come up across the city in a month’s time while 15 more will come up in phases.
Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) had floated tenders for building 100 skywalks on Public Private Partnership (PPP) model despite being criticised for the existing skywalks that have been found wanting. However, BBMP officials say the absence of lifts or escalators at these skywalks have rendered them virtually useless.
So, taking a cue from the K.G. Road skywalk that is equipped with an elevator, all the new skywalks are to be provided with a lift.
The new skywalks that are coming up are mountable metallic bridges that can be relocated to any spot depending upon the user pattern and traffic density.
The skywalks are to be built on design, build, own, operate and transfer basis by private investors, who pay ground rent to the BBMP. Once the work is complete, they earn by way of getting business groups to advertise on the structure of the skywalk.
BBMP has issued work orders for six such skywalks. While those near the Indian Air Force ASC Centre and Christ College are almost complete, work has begun on skywalks near HAL Airport Road at Marathahalli and on Hosur Road opposite the Forum Mall near Tavarekere. And, work is yet to start on those on Domlur Inner Ring Road near Embassy Golf Link and on Palace Road near Mount Carmel College in Vasanth Nagar.
Basavaraj Kabade, Exeecutive Engineer at Traffic Engineering Cell, BBMP, said construction of six skywalks would be completed in a month. BBMP has given its approval for construction of 15 more skywalks for which work orders will soon be issued.
B. Dayananda, Additional Commissioner (Traffic), said that though all efforts were being made to make skywalks user-friendly, it was more of a commuter culture that decides its effective use. He hoped that the new skywalks with lifts would motivate people use them.

skywalk is coming up near the Indian Air Force Centre at Gangenahalli on Bellary Road is not at proper location. Now BBMP & BMTC will move bus stop near skywalk which was attempted earlier by Bangalore traffic ploice to help pvt vechiles to move fast at the cost of pedestrains.
Can some one bring details how these six skywalks are located and what issues exected ??? Will they be effectively used ???
are they building Bus Bay near Airforce station @ Mekhri Circle
Hi,
I noticed that adjucent to the new skywalk, some portion of the airforce land one can see its barricated...I guess it whould be to construct bus bay's and shift the airforce bus stop. looks like its a good idea...hope it solves the purpose
any updates by aony one on this ?

Yes, Airforce station has parted some land for this.
Work is going on just adjacent to Skywalk at Gangenhalli to accomodate the bus stop and this was also confirmed by DULT team.
Its good move and safe for Public Transport commuters. Drawback will be existing bus stop at Air Force Station training center will be shifted to new location, so in effect people have to walk more from Meckri circle to reach this bus stop and samw way people have to walk from this place to Meckri circle to catch buses towards Shivajinagar.
I feel, at present place, Skywalk & expanded bus stop could have made lot sense then doing at new place. Same Airforce station parting similar land.
Finally BMRC building three subway at METRO stations
At Peennya, Dasarahalli and Nagasandra, road crossings for METRO was nightmare. Now with new proposed subway, thse should help using METRO and revenue earning. http://bmrc.co.in/pdf/tenders/pedsub.pdf

Good one
Sky-walk near Ecospace on ORR
There is a sky-walk coming up on ORR near Eco-Space in Bellandur. Not sure why it is taking so long. The basic steel structure has been erected for around a couple of months now. Wondering why making it operational after some finishing touches is taking so long.
