Electoral rolls - response from Manivannan

Dear Friends,

Now that the posts on ‘Electoral Roll’ appear to have concluded, it’s time to respond to the issues raised. Many of the issues raised such as ‘bad system’, ‘where the buck stops?’, ‘dedicated official is an oxymoron’ etc are generic and serious in nature; let’s examine the issues with facts and figures.

Facts are important because, such a forum, having committed citizens who have time and energy to contribute positively to the state, must be exposed to facts and not subsist on the assumptions, however enticing they may be!

As a result, they have elicited statements from politicians across party lines supporting  the suggestion that the design and alignment of the metro be re-examined before further work is taken up.

Chief Election Commissioner’s name missing in voters list

 Mr. Navin chawla, Chief Election Commissioner of India found his name deleted in the voters list. He had gone to the polling booth with his family to cast his vote.

"Road Dividers" or "Walls"?

Dear Sir,

     Recently most of the important roads of Bangalore have been made double roads.
     As part of that, "Road Dividers" have been placed in the middle of roads, so that the traffic gets streamlined.
     This is a welcome move and helps.

Digging of roads and improper patch up

The roads in Whitefield-ITPL area were in reasonably good condition after the last asphalting and periodic maintenance works. However the good conditioned roads were spoiled by the pits digged (and left without properly filling/repairing) for laying pipe conduits (for fiber cable ?) underground.
