Folks, in all the discussions about BIA,HAL, whether both should remain open, BIA shortcomings,HAL shortcomings ect. we may have missed something. We may have missed the value and potential of HAL in the squabble for reopening HAL for civil aviation. HAL with it's freed up runway and area could be used for manufacturing defence and/or commercial planes in tieups with any of the aviation majors like Boeing, Lockheed Martin, Aribus, Sukhoi etc. If planned well and executed that could definitely be done and relevant infrastructure be built up with required investments from the relevant aviation majors. There are other options too in the areas of specialized retrofitting defence/commercial aircraft from other countries. Any thoughts? Of course during the course of doing any of this the local community has to be kept in mind regarding things such as pollution etc.
A different perspective on HAL
