Do blogs also need to be marketed ?

up

With a horde of blogs competing with each other for attention, they need some kind of marketing. This is necessary not only for retention but also to attract new ideas from more people. An observation I would like to make is how blogs seem to acquire the personality of its moderator - good platform, technically sleek, but lacks depth to follow through; lacks the attitude and initiative to rise and shine..may be commitment-phobic, armchair pontification is the word..even if it may have the promise. Any ideas for praja? Regards, Vikash

Blog marketing

Very good idea, this marketing of blogs. People power can be harnessed only when more and more people are brought together. I have a few suggestions. First, identify, visit, and comment in other similar blogs. The visitors there who read our comments, will naturally like to see who we are and visit praja. Of course, to keep them permanently in our fold, our own site will have to be damn good. Second, arrange with newspapers and magazines to syndicate select topics and discussions in praja in the print pages of this media which is still popular. Third, approach brand gurus like Harish Bijoor who are passionate about Bangalore. -- City Zen

what next for Praja?

Will start a thread to solicit readers' and contributor's ideas. Our first goal was to become a big enough community with people from varied backgrounds (lawyers - PIL?, city govt officers - sane advise?, enthu citizens - volunteer field work? etc) as members.

using RTI

Read a recent edition of The Week. hugely inspirational stories of people who used RTI to ensure better governance. I am in Madras right now. When I'm back, will call Pranav. The first step will be to figure out what information we want to get from the GoK. Then maybe we file a ouple of requests every week around a theme and get some data and facts. Put them up on the website - I think that should not be a violation of any law. Srivathsa
