ABIDe forms working group to review implementation of Right To Education Act and make recommendation to Government

Working Group will consult parents, teachers and school administration

                                                     

Bengaluru, September, 23rd, 2010: Agenda for Bengaluru Infrastructure and Development (ABIDe)  has formed a working group to review and discuss implementation of the Right To Education – RTE Act. The working group will initially consist of Shri Rajeev Chandrasekhar, Member of Parliament and Convener ABIDe Task Force. Mrs.Tejaswini Ananth Kumar, Managing Trustee, Adamya Chetana, Dr Ashwin Mahesh, Member, ABIDe Task Force and Mr. ES Ramamurthy, Chief Mentor, Sikshana Foundation and few more members will join the Group shortly.

The Working Group will meet with parents, teachers and school administration and discuss rules set out by Karnataka Government on implementation of RTE and make recommendations to the Government.

The decision to set up a working group was taken by Mr. Ananth Kumar, Member of Parliament, Vice Chairman, ABIDe following representations made to ABIDe by various schools, teachers and parents with concerns about the impact on them from the draft rules put out by Karnataka Government on implementation of the RTE Act and Free and Compulsory Education for children.
