I am extremely happy with

I am extremely happy with this proposal. However, I feel that terminating the trains at Mandya is not a very good idea when a bigger city Mysore, is just 45 Km away ; fast local services between Bangalore and Mysore with limited stops would be a good idea. As for the other services, Bangalore - Channapatna with a stop at every station including the ones that are likely to be built, would be decent.

New lines like Bidadi - Whitefield via, Harohalli, Bannerghatta, Anekal town, Chandapura, Sarjapura, Varthur and Gunjur should be constructed for the purpose of commuter rail. If possible, this line should touch Electronics City. This line's capacity, when enhanced, could help in diverting the Mysore - Chennai trains, thereby reducing burden on Bangalore City station.

Similarly,  a line from Kengeri or Bidadi to Bangalore - Tumkur railway line, along the NICE road should be laid. Once this is done, besides reducing the burden on Yeshwantpur - Majestic - Mysore section, establishes a new corridor covering Magadi road, Visvesvaraya layout ; reaching Yelahanka or Byappanahalli too would not be a problem due to the presence of bypass lines on the outskirts of Yeshwantpur station.

Decongesting Bangalore: Commuter rail gains traction

"...Taking a long-term and holistic approach to not just decongest Bangalore’s roads, but to discourage migration of people to the city from peripheral districts, the Rail India Technical and Economical Services (RITES) has presented commuter rail system (CRS) as an effective transport option..."

"...The RITES, in its report submitted to the directorate of urban land transport, said that although most city planners do not look at the rail system as a solution to its problems, or consider it in their plans, “the inherent advantages and large potential of railway as a suburban/urban transport system cannot be ignored.”.."
