BSY unveils roadmap to weed out corruption DH News Service, Bangalore: Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa on Wednesday handed over an administrative road map to the heads of all departments that seeks to activate the dormant system right from top to bottom level, besides weeding out corruption. The CM, who held a day-long brainstorming session - Manthana - with top bureaucrats of the Government on transforming Karnataka into a prosperous State at Indian Institute of Management-Bangalore on Bannerghatta Road, assigned specific tasks to officers from taluk level to the State level -- Tahasildars to Chief Secretary. As per the CM’s road map, all Tahasildars, along with his staff, will hold a public grievance meeting on every Saturday (except second Saturday) at hobli head quarters. The officer should take on-the-spot decisions on grievances. The deputy commissioners of districts will conduct surprise visits to this meets in their jurisdiction. Every DC should visit at least three such hoblies and monitor the meetings. “DCs are authorised to take strict action against erring officials. Corruption in implementation of budgetary schemes and programmes will not be tolerated,” Yeddyurappa is learnt to have directed all departmental heads. The Government will shortly issue a circular in this regard, the CM said. He was speaking after giving a patient hearing to all officials for nearly six hours. Heads of all departments gave a power point presentation to the CM on how to improve the performance of the department. The CM jotted down important points during the session. The officials were given full freedom to speak about any problem they are facing in the department. In fact, this was the reason the media was barred from covering the meeting. Further, the CM said, a committee headed by the Chief Secretary will review progress made in each department and district wise development every month. The CM at the top most level, will review all these once in three months. “You (officials) can feel free to express any problem in administration with me. I promise to sort it out immediately,” he is learnt to have said. Earlier, in his opening remarks Yeddyurappa, while seeking the cooperation of the bureaucracy in implementing the budgetary schemes, said commitment is a must to bring in visible changes in governance. Chief Secretary Sudhakar Rao learnt to have said that officials should be involved in planning schemes and programmes and taking policy decisions. “If this is done, there will be joint responsibility on both officials and politicians in effective implementation of schemes,” he suggested.

BSY's solution to corruption? more process. more layers. didn't see anything about transparency, laws, penalties and automation. important to listen to patient to find out symptoms, but doctor only has to do diagnosis and prescription no? but i will take anything and everything. ps: CS, Sudhakar Rao's suggestion is very interesting and hopefully BSY takes it seriously and does something about it, fundamentally.
