thanks for starting a thread on RWH. was wanting to start one for a while. here are a some of the RWH sites in Bangalore http://indiawaterportal.o...

When Jayalalithaa was the CM

When Jayalalithaa was the CM in TN, she made it mandatory to harvest rainwater and also provide a duct for recharging the groundwater. This policy had a good positive effect on Chennai in particular and TN in general.

policy

policy we also have. the thing is about doing it with seriously. some apartments i know have literally put a bucket to a pipe and calling it RWH. Then there are issues like storm-water drain, lakes and ponds, treatment, and garbage disposal.

BWSSB's RWH park

Rainwater harvesting tips at park By S Lalitha,DH News Service,Bangalore: http://deccanherald.com/C... Bangalore Water Supply and Sewerage Board (BWSSB) will create the first theme park at Jayanagar soon, to create awareness on rainwater harvesting (RWH). Tenders will be invited this week. The park will come up in one acre of BWSSB land at 40th Cross, 7th Main, in the 5th Block. BWSSB Chairperson Latha Krishna Rao told Deccan Herald the park will have waterfalls, a pathway, decorative plants as well as a lawn. These will serve as a backdrop to create awareness among the public through a demonstration and information centre on RWH. “A building will be constructed to demonstrate the process of collecting, filtering and using rainwater,” she said. Methods of rainwater harvesting - recharging borewells and groundwater sources near the house and collection of rainwater for reuse - will be demonstrated. The BWSSB recently made mandatory for any new house built on a 30x40 site to have rainwater harvesting system in order to get a drinking water connection. Among other attractions here will be a solar lighting facility and a summer house with benches. The theme park is expected to come up within three months. It will be constructed on a build-operate-transfer basis. “BWSSB will offer subsidy to any concern which will execute the work. Investors may collect an entry fee fixed by the BWSSB,” an official said.
