Foreigners in city..deport or not!

Everything else

The recent arrest of the pakistani's in the city has raised lot of concerns at least in the press and questions too. Its a known fact that the porous nepal borders are an easy route for any one and everyone to enter India.

Now UG tunnels for city?!

Infrastructure

Objections to steel flyovers and cutting of trees has apparently led the governament to look taking vehicular traffic underground!

Trees planted but WRONG intentions!!

Pedestrian Infrastructure

Initially when the TenderSURE works started, it was decided that there would be no new trees planted. This was an autrocious decission as there cannot be pedestrains on the footpath without tree shade in our city.

footpath works - bbmp's perpetual money spinner

The below picture is of the road works which have started this week on MG road. As can be seen, the exisiting concrete blocks have been removed an neatly piled up on the road..this will most probably be recycled on the same footpath eventually in the coming days.

solving silkboard conundrum

Silkboard junction has been identified as one of the worst traffic prone junctions in the whole of India!!

So what does the govt do to handle it..they come up with an humungous plan to 'de-clutter' the junction with a maze of flyovers..

Metro DPR 2A (SB-KRP) - review

Metro Rail

BMRCL has for the first time taken a very positive step by sharing the dpr for the phase 2a which connects Central Silk Board to KR puram (via ORR) on the internet.

They have also invited review comments by the general public. We have time till end of this month.

Steel?? Concrete is way better!

Infrastructure

There is lot of talk about the steel bridge coming at a very high inflated cost on Hebbal road..there are various options to consider before getting to building a bridge like mass PT options like a BRT or LRT/Metro or Suburban rail..

Bengaluru lake systems and demolitions

Urban Development

Finally we need a crisis of sorts to get the govt machinery started and the CM talking tough about illegal encroachments onto lake areas. Everyone has abused the lakes systems in the worst possible way. So course corrections are necessary and a must!

SOme right vibes coming out from the opposition too, where BJP has asked to go behind the big players too, citing as below:

Begur - neglected history of Bengaluru!

So how did the Bangalore name come about? There are various interesting stories floating around..

No Trees for city streets??

Ranganath Swamy, Assistant Conservator of Forests, BBMP Forest Cell, said the existing roads were being constantly used and re-used for infrastructure projects, making trees vulnerable in the city. As a result, saplings can be planted only in “closed spaces” like educational institutions, fenced government premises and clubs.

BBMP road history - site working

BBMP seems to have made a  silent move after the initial hype about the road history being available of all roads in Bangalore which was announced few months ago..a google search leads to the below site which gives the information:

http://218.248.45.164:808...

Use IE to open it (needs silverlight), chrome needs some tweaks to make it work.

PCU for Bangalore? two wheelers?

Its become a norm that traffic is being measured as PCU (passenger car units) on the city streets. However Bangalore stands first in the highest proliferation of two wheelers in the whole country.

This is primarily attributed to the weather which makes it easy to ride a  scooter or a bike almost all through the year.

FAIL - motorcycles as last mile solution for metro

Metro Rail

First of all, the lack of integration of BMRCL with other modes of PT like BMTC is the biggest impediment for metro's usefulness and profitability..however nothing much can be done there now..
