Bangalore is one of the 59 cities to which Ministry of Urban Development or MoUD has sanctioned grants for public transport buses.

This grant is linked to conditional reforms in the transport sector in cities that includes higher taxes on private cars, dedicated funds for public transport, parking policy as a car restrain measure and bus sector reforms.

How and in what way is it going to be implemented / enforced in Bangalore city and Karnataka?

- Is the underpass being built with JNNURM Grants? Or Money raised by BBMP?

Anyway and regardless, underpass may be a waste, and alternate solutions have been discussed here in past.

BTW - we just got started on building a local petitions feature on Praja. Key is to keep the petitions local, like this one, and not post demands of motherhood nature. And it will be nice to see all relevant discussions come up on the side when anyone reads the petition.

Media reports say/state that it’s being built using JNNURM funds

As per the press/media reports the underpass is being built with JNNURM Grants.

Centre too borrows it from the World Bank and JNNURM is unfortunately no free lunch as most local politicians corporators / councillors think likewise.

Nice to learn that praja has started a local petitions feature.

But unfortunately some petitions can't be localised / localized.

For instance petitions (if any) pertaining to the Western Ghats can't be localised / localized. This is because it/they passes/pass through Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Karnataka, Goa and Maharashtra.

Petitions (if any) pertaining to the National RTI are applicable to the whole of India whereas those pertaining to Karnataka RTI are applicable to the whole of Karnataka.

I'd created the petition pertaining to pedestrians relevant to the whole of India so that it could be useful for the pedestrians all over the country.
