BekuBedaSanthe

Governance
The "Citizens for Bengaluru" is organising a "BekuBedaSanthe" on the 15th Oct, and the following is what I posted on their web-site as comprising my initial "wish-list" (The linked blog-posts provide more details.

Pedestrian issues

Pedestrian Infrastructure
An Indian Express reporter called to ask if I could write a 200 page note on pedestrian issues in the city, perhaps since I was part of the PRAJA team that had filed a PIL in this behalf in the High Court (check here, for more on that).

Multi Modal Integration : Metro, Railways, BMTC & Foot paths

Public Transport

As we have seen Ph-1 of Metro open to public without any consideration  for multimodal integration,  other end slowly suburban rail taking traction,  People are using over crowded Metro with poor integration  to change over from one mode of publci transport system to other.

Even we do not have single mobility card for Bangalore urban transport.

Double Decker Mayhem on RV rd - EC metro route

Metro Rail

Bangalore has borne the brunt of bad engineering when it comes to road works. Thousands of crores are being spent mindlessly on projects with no actual value. The flyovers projects are the worst of the implementations, there are very few bridges which have proved their worth. A recent report on that can be seen here:

Cantonment Metro Station new location as per BMRC deciison, whose interest BMRC is serving

Metro Rail

New location of Cantonment metro station wil lraise more question then to satisfy the justification :

Advantages of having Metro station infront of Cantonment station :

1.  Multi modal integration  will be missed between Railway, Suburban Rail, Metro, BMTC , Auto, taxi and  accessacibility

PH2 UG Red line routing

Metro Rail

FInally BMRCL has published the UG route with station details of the new red line coming up between Gotigere and Nagavara. THe line goes UG at Dairy circle and has 12 stations on that stretch. The details are at the link below which was published recently

Excerpts from a ToI report:

DG (Prisons) HN Sathyanarayana Rao - "What she is saying is not a new discovery".

DIG (Prisons) Smt D Roopa - "He might say this is not a new discovery.

BMTC in Metro Times

Ever since the launch of Metro, especially after East West Purple line was fully implemented, Bengaluru is saying 'Metro, Metro'. BMTC commuters, office bus users and many car drivers have switched over to Metro.  Ridership has already touched 1.8 Lakhs on purple line.

Bangalore Commuter Rail / Suburban Rail : GOK and GOI equally responsibile for not implementing

Commuter Rail

GOK is not serious on suburban rail by looking at last 7-8 yrs progress on suburban rail.  DPR  is pending & No follow ups from GOK with Railway Officials.
