Bus

Hi All,

Just to bring classic example how BMTC loots people.

Place: Agara junction to SIlk board

Distance: 3.3 kms Fare 12 rs (normal bus)

Stage: 2 stages

As per rule we need to have stage for every 2 kms but here we have 3 stage just to loot people.

Stops     to                                  Distance   total

Agara       Agaara Depo             900m         900m

Depo       HSR BDA complex    900m          1800m

BDA complex   Fern Hill             900m           2700m            //Stage 1

Fern Hill            Silk Board           500m         3300m             //Stage 2  <-- Which is not needed

For total distance of 3.3 km we need to pay Rs 12 which comes to 3.64/km

Which is way too costly for users.

For 2 poeple in one way :

Rate in BMTC= Rs 24

Same in 2 wheelar = Rs 5  ( 50 km for Rs 72 /litre for 3.5 km)

Same in 4 wheelar = Rs 17  ( 15 km for 72/ltr for 3.5 km)

Hence BMTC is 5 times costlier and 1.5 times costlier than private vehicle

True, instead of higher fares, should try to fix their leaks

They should better try to fix the leaks in their system. For all the next-stop-destination travels, the change of Rs. 5 is directly going in conductor's pocket. You can see this present in all the routes. I have myself faced this.

100cc four stroke bikes & Diesel Cars economical than Buses

100cc commuter bikes like the Splendor, Discoverer 100cc etc giving around 65kpl in Bangalore conditions are the most economical way to travel (Ofcouse bicycles, electric vehicles and walking cheapest)..

Cost per km is almost 1 Re 25 paise. Especially if two are travelling, it reduces the cost per person to around 65 paise per km.

Diesel Economical Cars like Swift / Figo giving around 16kpl in Bangalore conditions is also economical if 5 people are travelling.  With 55 rupees per litre, it comes to around Rs 3.45 per km. Wtih 5 travelling it comes to around 68 paise per km per person.

Diesel Car pooling a much cheaper option compared to BMTC and safer option than two wheeler. Unfortunately Bangalore is plaqued by single occupant cars which is the mother of all Bangalore Traffic Diseases.
