Hi Folks

As we all know one of the biggest problems faced by Bangaloreans each year is the irregular timings of supply of water. This problem varies drastically from ward to ward. Some of us do not have access to regular piped water supply and are so inured to paying between Rs. 1,500 and Rs. 3,000 on water that it fails to outrage us that we are paying between 10 to 20 times what
the average Bangalorean spends on water.

While the impact of irregular timings is minimized in some areas through the use of sumps and storage tanks, it still causes potential health hazards. The solution to this would be to move towards a system of 24x7 supply of pressurized water to our houses. This isn't a pipe dream (pun intended), or something that is only achievable in foreign countries. We have 24x7 water
supply being provided in Hubli - Dharwad in Karnataka itself. With good data on the variations in water supply experienced in the various wards of Bangalore we will strengthen the case for moving to a 24x7 water supply in Bangalore. Our goal is to ensure that we capture reliable data on water supply timings across all the wards in Bangalore.

In order to do this we need to install water pressure monitors at various points in Bangalore city to monitor the duration of water supply. All we need from you is access to install a water pressure monitor on the main BWSSB pipeline in your house and a plug point. This device will be installed for a week and will monitor the water pressure in your pipeline. This data will allow us to build a good picture on the timings of water supply across the city of Bangalore.

In order to volunteer for this all you need to do is send an email with your name, your address and your ward number to me and we will take care of the rest!

We look forward to everybody pitching in!

Best Regards
