Looking at how progress happening at both states on Suburban Rail Corriodr Project Karnatak and Kerala :

Karnataka :

Since 2007 CTTP report,  Karnataka Govt is very serious implimenting except any thing in writing till  Feb'2013,  letter sent to Railway Board.   Except  four letters from GOK during last 18 months : one during Feb'2013, Second during Oct'2013,  thrid during Dec'2013,  Foruth during Jan'2014 by Urban Development Minister Vinay Kuar Sorke,   no other comunications from GOK to Railway Board for Suburban Rail.  Also Karnataka is blessed with Railway Minister since June'2013 and earlier  Minister for state for Railways.

Bangalore has also blessed with 6 Parliment Constituency who will get benefitted by the Suburban Rail services.

GOK has assigned work of feasibility  to RITES during Sept'2011 and which was finally accepted by GOK only during Feb'2013 without any  written inforation to Railway Board.  Now DPR for Ph1A  has been assigned to RITES during July'2013  and still its progressing so that Bangalore Suburban Rail can be finished with such delay with some vested interests.

Even during last 4 months of new Railway Minister  or during past Railway Minister,  not even single meeting held for Bangalore  Suburban Rail gives clear clarity that either GOK wants  it to happen  or Railways wants it.  Its only citizens who are crying.

Kerala :

Kerala Govt assigned DPR work to MRVC ubai during June'2013 and  MRVC subitted DPR during june'2014 with review by Chief Sec of Kerala Govt.

The inputs were given during a meeting chaired by Chief Secretary E K Bharat Bhushan on Friday in which high-level officials of MRVC, Railways and the government participated.

“The MRVC had submitted the DPR for the suburban rail project.

Agrawal said that the corridor was envisaged on the lines of the Mumbai Suburban Rail where around 3,000 suburban trains ply on a day. The Railway has submitted a proposal to the State Government regarding it. The plan is to run air-conditioned MEMU services on the existing tracks and increase the facilities as per demand.

It seems Kerala Suburban Rail project is progressing very well at railway board and Bangalore suburban Rail  project is burial being prepared to justify how Bangalore Suburban Rail will not be required.

If  we get news one day soon that Kerala Suburban Rail is approved,  Citizens of Bangalore should not be surprised.

Karnataka people should not cry saying discrimination in Railway

If Karnataka Govt does not want to have Suburban Rail project,  then people of Karnataka should be feel or cry saying discrimination by Railway or Central Govt.

1.  Mumbai got Elevated Rail corridor during Sept'2014

2. Mumbai got  roll back for increase in monthly  season ticket during June'2014

3. Calcutta got METRO  rail taking over from Indian Railway during Aug'2013

4.  Ahmadabad got Regional Rail services approved by Raiwlay board during March'2013

5. Hyderabad got MMTS Ph-2 approved during Feb'2011

6. Chennai got  MRTS by Indian Railway

Then why Bangalore is left by Indian Railway on introducing Suburban Rail services.

Maybe we should try meeting

Maybe we should try meeting the Railway Minister during one of his "cleanliness inspection" rounds at the city's railways stations and ask him about the progress of Bangalore sub urban rail.

We can keep the demand for Suburban rail alive by organising Namma Railu day on the lines of Bus day/Cycle day. There is definitely a large crowd who are using the regular passenger trains for suburban transport-See the second post of the following link-

We just need to sustain awareness by reaching out to the suburban passengers and try to ensure higher turnout on Namma Railu days. This will be a step forward in ensuring Bangalore gets it own Suburban rail.

Sanjeev,

The Karnataka state having very little Railway Infrastructure is nothing to do with not having Railway Minister from Karnataka. It is everything to do with people and their representatives. When both are happy with what they have, you can't expect center to come begging to you for the projects. Railways is the most politicized ministry and hence the projects are also based on politics than anything else.

At least now it has been proved that the 'Step Motherly' treatment cries of my fellow Kannadigans are bereft of any substance.

The example you have posted once again proves, MPs from Kerala, irrespective of Political Party they belong to, make every effort to get the projects they need.

We are still in slumber to expect any change in Railways in Karnataka.

Mumbai and Chennai already

Mumbai and Chennai already had lots of infrastructure because of many trains terminating there. This was utilized in developing suburban railway. Bangalore never developed in that way.

Also if there is a region is created with some parts of Andhra and Tamilnadu like Delhi NCR there can be good distribution of destinations in all directions. Here direct line to Hassan seems to be stuck.

My personal opinion is Some people are afraid of equality railway can bring. Also there is concern about railway affecting investment by bus operators. Seems like there is little interest in managing affordable transport well, like running BMTC buses on time while there is enough funding for road projects.
