City auto fares likely to go up from Friday

Commuters, brace yourselves to shell out more for your auto trips from Friday. He told Deccan Herald  that a report prepared by the deputy commissioner of police (east) on the quantum of hike to be revised has been submitted to the government.

“A decision will be announced only on July 22. We have taken into consideration the views of auto unions and drivers alike, the increase in auto-LPG prices, inflation and the cost of auto spares,” said Aiyappa.

Now authorites should focus on the mass public transport system, in this way Commuter Rail will provide good public Transport with METRO and BMTC integration.

Slowaly now public will realise how important to have Commuter Rail for Bangalorecity with MTERO and BMTC integration.

Sanjeev - I would say that your post should have read - public transport way to go after auto fares go up.

Commuter Rail is an option for longer range connectivity (from sub urban areas), where as autos are for local, mostly last mile connectivity. BMTC is the likely beneficiary of high auto fares, as people may prefer Buses for longer commute in the city. From that angle, I would say higher auto fares are a good thing.

Even with commuter rail, you would need last mile connect. Could happen via Buses, or Auto, or both. comment guidelines
