SWR has given press notice that on 18.03.2010 will conduct the speed trial on Dharwad to Mugad ( 14 Kms ) on newly laid double line.

Now We have double line laid recently between Hubli to Hebsur 19 Kms towards Gadag & Arsikere and Devanur (14 km). With this Dharwad to Kambargavi ( 20 Kms ) Yesvanthpur to Londa has got further boost on double track slowly. We have double track from Hubli junction upto Hubli South Station ( 6 Kms ) towards Kundagol

Now Hubli-Dharwad twin city can have local trains with DEMU trains running on the double track. Train can run between Dharwad ( from Karnataka University ) upto Gadag or Kundagol with so many station on the way, many educational colleges & major Hospitals.  SWR should  start working on starting local train.

When Rail Minsiter is announced so many local trains for Bihar, WB, Kearla, TN, why not for the Karnataka cities : Hubli Dharwad, Mangalore, Mysore

The real problem is MoS Muniyappa doesn't care much for the state. We are yet to see any updates on the 2 local trains in Bangalore that is suppose to be start in march 2010.

Railway projects: States urged to adopt cost-sharing model

He was speaking at a meeting to mark the inaugural run of the Secunderabad-Hazrat Nizamuddin Duronto superfast Express here on Sunday.

Union Minister of State for Railways K.H. Muniyappa has asked the State governments to come forward in adopting the cost-sharing method for ensuring timely completion of long pending railway projects in their respective areas.

“A movement has started with the Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka Governments agreeing to share costs on 50:50 basis for their projects. Other States should follow the model,” he said.

http://www.hindu.com/2010/03/15/stories/2010031557200100.htm

The Centre sanctioned works estimated at Rs. 1,248 crore for the State during the next financial year, while the State government had agreed to contribute Rs. 621 crore, taking the total to Rs. 1,869 crore.

Mr. Muniyappa said the SCR would take up works pertaining to MMTS stage II after discussions with the officials concerned of the State government and the Chief Minister

From the above we can clearly see,  K H Muniyappa is not doing any thing for Karnataka,   I think he can be good actor in Kannada TV channels or News papers for karnataka. He said differnetly in all Kannada Chnannels in interview before the Railway budget. Karnatak has once again received the step motherly treatment.  After budget Muniyappa is not speaking or coming out openly in Karnataka.

When SCR or AP has got central budget allocation of Rs 1250 Crore,  SWR / Karnataka has got only 50% of that ie Rs 600 Crore.

Same K H Muniyappa is batting for MMTS stage2 ,  now when Yeddyurappa / Karnatak state  has agreed to share 50% cost  for Local Trains for Bangalore, Muniyappa is not even commenting, I  think, he may not be able to get central approval for this, so he is hidding on this.

When is he going to start Rajdhani ( announced one year back ),  what about Yesvanthpur to Anekal and Bangalore to Nelamangala.

We all  should write open letters to Muniyappa to help to start Local Trains for Bangalore, Hubli-Dharwad  Mysore and Mangalore

I seriously dont understand what is happening. We were suppossed to have Anekal passengers in march-march is almost over today.I was actually quite happy that we were having a RM from our state but looks lik it is teh politics between BJP and the UPA govt that is actually going on. Even when the State govt has agreed to bear 50% of the costs I dont understand why there is not response from the centre regarding the same.

State govt. has effectively used the JNNURM funds allocated to them for transport-both BMTC and KSRTC have procured a good fleet. So when state govt, is ready to finance 50% there is going to be a good show with it. The allocation will atleast solve certain problems of the state. We need to effectively utilize the existing railway lines to produce good results. When we analyze them we see that after 8AM there is not much of an incoming traffic and peak hour also starts around that time. Good number of trains can be run at this period. Similarly heavy traffic starts around 8PM in the evening by which time 50-60% of the peak traffic will be completed. with track between Bidadi and Tumkur doubled well there shouldnt be a problem.

Local trains must be started as early as possible.

...as per a report in The Indian Express, dated 22-03-2010:

"The much-hyped local trains from Yeshwantpur to Anekal and Bangalore city to Devanahalli may not be introduced within this month as announced by Union Minister of State for Railways KH Muniappa, as the Railways are yet to obtain the necessary technical clearances.

South Western Railways General Manager Kuldeep Chatruvedi said, "These trains were not announced in the budget. Hence, we cannot introduce them without getting the necessary approval from the Railway Board. We are in the process of requesting the Railway Board to sanction these trains and it may take some time to get it." It may be recalled that Muniyappa had announced, just a few days before the railway budget, that the Railways will introduce these trains by the end of March."
