Air Traffic Numbers from AAI for HAL Airport!

Below given are the official numbers for Air Traffic at HAL prior to BIAL opening in May, 2008. These numbers were provided officially by AAI in response to one of the early RTI applications filed in May, 2008.

Interesting that, a country, a city which provides Software and Information Tech services to the entire world doesn't uses for its own use. Please note that AAI seems to have not maintained the air traffic data in electronic form prior to 2001.

Our GOK departments are no better than GOI offices. This is the same story all across. Recently it was reported that Motor Vehicle department (RTO) offices have not centralized their database, i.e. each office maintains its own DB. We have a long way to go before we make use of the skills we have acquired in past decades.

Here are the excerpts from AAI response to an RTI application:

>>a city which provides Software and Information Tech >>services to the entire world doesn't uses for its own >>use. If we start using computer for atelast 10 Govt dept where people interact with day to day basis. It will reduce lot of manual intervation (read corruption). Simple ex, wd be somebody sactions plan, other guy issues OC after completion. For building violation, govt tries to recover fines from public, do they take action against person who issued OC ..

Just a simple observation.

In 190 years of British "Raj", 500 acts were passed. In 50 years of "independence" 5,000 acts were passed.

Each act when passed ensures a loophole, so that the citizenry is at the mercy of the politicians or bureaucracy for favours.

Something wrong with the AAI numbers

Something very wrong with these numbers. 78 flights PER HOUR (as per your query). Downright impossible for HAL airport to achieve. In the total 4 hours and 2 hours yes.

But at the same time, we should not assume these are the TOTAL flights at HAL. Since non-commercial (military, training, and private) flights are not included in these numbers. Which is why I have the highest regards for the ATCOs at HAL. They out-perform their AAI counterparts at BIAL by miles.

Get AAI revenue break-up

3.How much revenue from all sources is earned during the year 2007 (From January to December)? The revenue earned by AAI during the period April 2007 to March 2008 is Rs.245.90 crores. This is key to understanding BIAL. They have put their airside charges in line with AAI.

Get break up details of RNFC, TNLC, PSF and Commercial Revenue. From the PSF ask for specific break up as to how much was paid out for security services. Also ask for break up of expenditure if possible by heads of account RNFC, TNLC, PSF, Commercial.

If I remember right, BIAL should not be getting RNFC. Only TNLC, PSF, and Commercial. In Rs. 200 PSF about Rs. 130 is paid to CISF. Therefore AAI would get only Rs. 70. I do not know if the 245 Cr is based on 200 or 70.

If 200. You can understand why BIAL is frantic for the UDF which is 9x the PSF income. (675 vs. 70). Interesting poll question. Are we getting 10x (9x+1x) the service quality at BIAL ?

Devesh, It would be helpful, if you could provide that info you had from your sources. Our experience tells us that, to get any information through RTI, takes about 3-6 months. Then also you are not guaranteed for all the information. You get one liner, data not available. Syed
