Commuter RailPublic Transport

Sanjeev, IDS, PS Anantharam sir and myself went over to IISc today to meet head of CiSTUP. Short summary on how it went

  • CiSTUP to add their review comments / foreword to the report
  • We will jointly organize a roundtable/seminar at IISc/CiSTUP to formally release the report and discuss the subject with relevant government officers and leaders
  • Will invite all transportation and investment related departments of Karnataka, railways as well, and also, local MLAs and MPs who have shown interest or tend to attend these.

We are thinking end of August for this Commuter Rail / Namma Railu seminar. Keep watching for mroe updates, or join in if you want to help organize this.

A hard copy of the report is available now, contact IDS or anyone from the Namma Railu project team if you want to see it. Wll upload the soft copy here as well as part of work for this seminar at CiSTUP.

Sorry couldn't make it. ~6 hrs notice on a weekday was a bit too tight :( Hope to be more involved as we proceed.

As long as few of us can manage to run around, its okay. Everyone can contribute towards the project by simply telling and talking more about it. Talk, discuss, promote! Word of mouth is an equally important thing.

Support from Industry!

SB and NR team,

Appreciate your efforts. And all the best for the proposed Mobilicitry-2010.

Coming to Namma Railu, I strongly suggest we reach out to Industry Leaders via Industry Chambers (BCIC). I will strongly recommend that we have one of their representative to be on the Panel in Mobilicity event. Industry would be the biggest beneficiary of  Namma Railu.

One of the BCIC member indicated me that the current BCIC president Mr. Shekar Viswanathan ( Deputy Managing Director (Commercial), Toyota Kirloskar Motor Pvt. Ltd.) is a strong supporter of Commuter Rail. In fact he had made several attempts to push this forward.

In my humble opinion Industry Chambers support would be a strong push for the realization of Namma Railu.

Actually I have promised the NR team member Capt. Naveen that in my next visit to b'lore next year Insha Allah, myself and Capt Naveen would take the NR train to visit my Alma-mater at Ghousia College of Engineering at Ramanagaram :)

The office is at Kempegowda road. It may be a good idea to include the current president for the proposed meet at IISc. I have attended several meetings at their office, including the one where Mr. P Ramamurthy, chairman BWSSB had given an addresses.
