An NGO meet with BBMP officials on Lakes revival and maintenance

Pollution

BBMP is contemplating to establish a structured system of high order involving citizens of Bangalore. It is a laudable claim indeed made by Chief conservator of Forests Sri Brijesh kumar of BBMP. To days TOI report has covered in detail the event held at IIM Bangalore on August 5th 2012.  About 125 odd representatives of 21 lake committees have taken part.

When it comes to the latest Garbage City tag, there was indeed a PIL filed. Fighting the negative tag was Neeraj Mishra, a resident of Indiranagar. Two years ago, Neeraj filed a PIL in the High Court of Karnataka when he found that garbage near his house had rented the place for free and the BBMP was letting it flourish.

This was at lunch time following the meeting of RWA's, convened by the Namma Bengaluru Foundation last Saturday, at the Koramangala Club.

Bangalore has been experiencing an alarming decrease in the number of lakes, down from 937 in 1937 to only 212 lakes in 2010. Historically, these lakes have been the main source of water for citizens.

Bangalore too high on road air pollution?

Delhi and Ahmedabad have already done it. Chandigarh too I beleive. But going purely by observations (can't find any published information from RTO), 40-50% of autorickshaws still seemed to be on petrol.
