Metro Rail

First ride on Namma Metro

Metro Rail

Have been out of Bangalore for the past 2 years.  My last long visit was in June 2011.  Namma Metro opened after that.  Am here this week and so decided to try it out with the family (we are all patrons of public transport).

Kannur-Bangalore super metro rail

Constructing about 200 k.ms overhead railway line from Kannapuram straightly to  Banglore would be an ever profitable expansion of Railway traffic and a great boon.

Phase-2 - East not connected

Metro RailPublic Transport

The routes chosen under phase-2 for Namma Metro are pretty good, no doubt. However, the east (except for Whitefield) will remain largely unconnected. This will surely get corrected in future phase/s.

BIAL Rail Connect - Alternate/s

The International Airport at Devanahalli has been operational for well over two years now. Already, there are huge developments all along the road to Devanahalli. The recent reports also suggest that air traffic has grown substantially - expansion plans of BIAL are already underway.

Metro Underground - Who Is Gaining the Expertise?

Came across this report in DH:  Metro’s Phase-I unlikely to meet deadline.  From June 2012, to December 2013, to March 2014 and now December 2014, though Mr Sreehari admits anything before mid-2015 is a pipedream.

The real cost of building Metro - elevated?

Metro RailPublic Transport

It is Metro time, and papers are full of statements from babus and netas of our city that say that "we didn't go underground because the cost was very high". But then, some citizens say - what about the cost we pay due to inconvenience? Wouldn't that 'hidden cost' tilt the balance in favour of underground? How about putting some numbers to these arguments?
