Platform Ticket Issue at the Railway Stations

Dear Sir / Madam,

I am writing this blog, so that I can highlight the issue that I encountered at the Punr Railway station w.r.t. the Platform tickets.

The following issues encountered:

1. Only one window available for the Platform tickets tickets distribution and other tickets distribution.

Police State

For holding a peaceful demonstration protesting the felling of some 40 odd trees (supposedly in the way of the BDA's signal-free corridor - check this), the state (through Koramangala PS) has now filed cases under Sec 143, 146, 147, 141, 341 read with 149, against 5 prominent mem

Over-milking the holy cows

If the statue (Ambedkar) is not shifted, the TBMs will have to be dismantled again at Vidhana Soudha station, towards the Vikasa Soudha gate, and parts have to be taken by shafts and launched from General Post Office end; the distance between these two stations being only a few meters would mean time and cost overrun.

Illegal Tinted Windows - Supreme Court Ruling

This is a hot topic now, as drivers all over Bangalore are peeling off the cooling films from their cars.  of course, this is happening all over India as well, following the recent Supreme Court ruling. I went ahead and read through the ruling to understand the logic behind the decision taken.  It is a 15 page ruling, and in my opinion, a very poor piece of work.

Foreign funding of NGO's

With reference to a certain context, a debate got started on the Hasiru Usiru Yahoo-group on the above subject, which I thought called for a larger debate, and hence this blog. The exchanges on the Y-group are reproduced below:

Hoarding menace - BBMP's helplessness?

Governance

Recently, before leaving the city, an expat left behind this 'hoarding' as his thank you note to Bengaluru. Humorous indeed, but to us and BBMP, this should be a hurtful mockery of the way things are out of control on our roads.

An aborted Chain snatching incident

Governance

The chain snatching incidences are on the increase for quite some time now. Our neighbor lady had lost her gold chain to an auto rickshaw driver a few years back, during her early morning walk. Similar incidences are on the increase which has made Bangalore police to sit up and take note. Beat police on motor bikes are a common sight, during our early morning walk.

Strong Lokpal, weak judiciary recipe for failure

Governance

This debate misses the main reason why the Lokpal is likely to flop. Even if the Lokpal controls the CBI, it will have no control over the courts. These seem incapable of convicting any resourceful person beyond appeals within his or her lifetime. Little will be achieved if the Lokpal initiates a thousand cases that then drag on for decades, with the accused out on bail. - - -

Code of conduct for Social Networks

Governance

There is nothing wrong in expecting a code of conduct when people talk in public gatherings or express their views on social web sites. There is no doubt about the need for a code of conduct. I think there is one in the Praja site. This site has a set of rules.
