Need for Suburban/Commuter Rail for Bengaluru makes to Railway Budget Speech in Parliament

This is how the railway minister, Shri. Sadananda Gowda describes in his maiden railway budget speech,

Commuter Rail - Will it ever materialize ?

Commuter RailPublic Transport

Most of us are aware that the CTTP-2007 report had recommended a Commuter /Sub-urban rail system for the city, totalling 204.0km (this includes city & suburban services upto Tumkur, Hosur & Ramanagaram). A few sub-urban trains are in operation & are being run by Southwestern railways (SWR), but the system is not of much help to urban commuters.

Transforming Urban Transportation

Commuter RailPublic Transport

Sharing a video from India Economic Summit. Very interesting to note Om Prakash Agarwals introductory comments where he says - We are very good at putting standalone facilities but never have an integrated plan and connection with other related systems. Bangalore has been reliant on a one dimensional Bus system. This cannot scale.

CRS / Local train for Bangalore Vs State Govt & SWR attitude

Commuter RailPublic Transport

This with reference to our Shri K.H. Muniyappa ( Minister of State for Railways  )  blaming State Govt for not starting  Local Trains within Bangalore city.  How is it that he can not speak to CM of Karnataka when CM himself is pursuing so many projects for Rail on cost sharing basis. Our Shri K.H.
