There had been estimates from long that the city needed far more buses than the BMTC was operating, and it was also known that the need was being partially met by the private operators. But, nobody knew that between the private operators and the schools, there were over 6 times the numbers operated by BMTC.

I recently travelled to New Delhi and used city buses as well as saw many Marcopolo buses operating there, both Diesel and CNG without any problems and huge amount of smoke they emit in Bengaluru. Bangalore had many Marcopolo buses which although comfortable inside, was emitting too much smoke outside , low pickup and frequent failures.

Recently Petrol and diesel prices have come down but BMTC has not reduced its prices.

A simple comparison shows why people should not use BMTC.

Avoid Volvos, BMTC buses and increase more traffic in city.

Root cause is public transport mode is way tooooooooo costly.

Thissection is an attempt to change public transport by bus.and other vehicles. However, an overarching vision is lacking.  Many new categories are introduced in the place of existing categories, but it is not clear that the existing problems of the sector are fully addressed.

A city with a population of over a crore needs a transport system round the clock. Unfortunately, this legitimate demand of citizens seems to have fallen on deaf ears. Even the much touted Bangalore Metro system shuts it services at 10:00 PM. This is unlike DMRC whose services run till 11:00 PM.

Cycles on KSRTC bus!

There is a frequent question on how to take cycles on KSRTC bus. Ofcourse it is quite a task to carry cycles on express and other service bus because they need to be loaded onto the roof of the bus.

However its a breeze to put cycles into volvo bus. But a frequent question is what is the cost of transportation. Some conductors play traunt, charging bribe etc

I recently used new BMTC website to check the timings of Airport bus services. I spent nearly 20mins to undertsnad and find a relevant timings I needed and finally ended up taking taxi to airport as the timingson website is too confusing. There is no clarity of timings as shown in the below screenshot. When I sent an email they replied its correct. Initailly I thought its my browser issue.
