Once in a while ...

Once in a while, in the midst of all the raves and rants here, we should appreciate the spirit of freedom we have in our country. I read this "Facebook activists in Egypt" and imagined things.

Earlier in the year, a group of young Egyptians used Facebook to organize support for a strike by textile workers on April 6. To put it mildly, Egypt's authoritarian government did not welcome this extension of civil society into cyberspace.

Look at how we got started here - does anyone remember the candle light vigil at Hebbal Lake!? This is not to speak ill of Egypt or anything, just a reminder for us to count our blessings in this country, once in a while!
