How about Tumkur to Airport in 60 minutes?

Even as Bangalore's clueless observers wonder about how to reach the airport, an ageing but agile HDG shows the way by doing the Tumkur to BLR airport stretch in 60 minutes flat. Here is how to do it the HDG way. "According to police intelligence sources, Mr Gowda was scheduled to fly to New Delhi on September 10 by the 8:00 am Jet Airways flight. After attending party meetings on September 9 at Haveri and Gadag, Mr Gowda boarded the Rani Chennamma Express at Hubli the same night. The train arrived at the Tumkur railway station the next morning at 7:05 am. “Since the train got delayed by 35 minutes, Mr Gowda was advised to alight at Tumkur itself and travel by road to the Bangalore airport,” the sources told Deccan Herald." "The intelligence ordered that the entire Tumkur-Bangalore stretch be made a “zero traffic” zone to facilitate a smooth drive for the former PM. The control room flashed the alerts and within a few minutes everything fell in place." "Mr Gowda’s convoy sped past Dobbaspet, T-Begur, Nelamangala Cross and reached H-Cross at 7:43 am. But a major road accident near Adakamaranahalli near H-Cross had by then created a bottleneck with trucks piling up on the road. Yet, traffic policemen on the spot led by Siddarame Gowda and Shiva Kumar got the road cleared within no time. In the meantime, flight tickets were rescheduled to the 8:15 am Jet Lite flight. And, Mr Gowda arrived in time and took off at the scheduled hour." But even before he set foot in New Delhi, the traffic snarl had triggered off an upheaval of sorts back in Bangalore. Acting with an unnerving alacrity, the State Government has recommended the suspension of Peenya traffic inspector Siddarame Gowda and Soladevanhalli traffic sub-inspector Shiva Kumar for the traffic snarl. Siddarame Gowda and Shivakumar were given a dressing down by the higher-ups. Even the Additional Commissioner of Police (Traffic & Security) was not spared, the sources said. “I did my best and even personally piloted the convoy from CMTI up to the Palace Cross. Beyond this, it is all left to...,” Siddarame Gowda told Deccan Herald and looked skywards. Source: Deccan Herald
