Pensioner's paradise - no more....

Petty thieves work the nights and cart off anything they can find outside our locked doors. Gangsters storm our homes in broad day light. And now you see killing of innocent civilians, day AND night. Today’s DH counted 16 reported murders in 20 days.

What has become of the law and order situation in our city? Where are we heading?

Commendable effort by Traffic Police

Traffic

Going west on Mysore road past ring road junction, you climb up a fairly steep gradient to get to Nayandahalli bus stop. As usual, where three lanes merge into two you see a bus stop. With busses stopped next to each other, it is almost a perennial traffic jam situation.

Road Safety in Bangalore

Traffic

Recent terrorist activities have highlighted our vulnerability, drawing a lot of well deserved attention. But we should not forget that at the same time, other neglected issues continue to cause havoc in everyday life.

How about a Bangalore related Projects library?...

Public Transport

Imagine a single portal (a book or pages of gyan) where we could log in and see:

> A chronicled listing of all projects related to Bangalore City

Namma Metro - Last Mile Connectivity

Metro RailPublic Transport

Prajegale,

We seem to be excited about last mile connectivity to Namma Metro. If we all agree on a few (let us say two or three) options, this might be a chance to influence policy.

Can we consolidate our ideas in one post?  Here is the plan:

Road Dust In Bangalore

Pollution

During late 80's and early 90's, I used to love and look forward to the mornings-after-rainy-nights in Bangalore. Pollution was a problem then too. But such mornings with crisp, clean, clear air was something else.

Are we hopeless? A random thought....

We visited Wonderla this weekend. I should say a pretty well planned and well maintained place. Few incidences here to make a point.

Do we need this?

Have you seen this one?

Apart from Volvo goody, here is something interesting and concerning.

A Rs 1,000-crore, 45-storey interchange terminal where BMTC, KSRTC and Namma Metro services would converge, would come up at the Majestic bus stand, the minister said and added that the construction work on it would begin shortly.

Chronology of a Project - Anjaneya Temple Flyover

Driving on Mysore Road daily can be a nightmare. Choke points are many - in fact, I cannot think of any better candidate for SB's 'model road demonstration' project!

One of the many such chronic choke points, Junction in front of Gali Anjaneya Temple, was (and still is) to get a flyover. Here is how the project went:

Storm Water Drains and BBMP budget

Vehicles, animals and now people floating in rain water pools - Sound familiar?

Deja vu. Examples: Today's Deccan, Friday's Deccan

For once, let us forget what happens with the money spent. But what if the allocation was never spent? Attached PDF is an extract from BBMP's budget document.

BMLTA - Need support?

Public Transport

I was looking at Singapore LTA website. Couldn't help dream of a similar authority for B'lore. To my surprise, google found BMLTA. Guys, there is a land transport authority in Bangalore, atleast on paper and GOK rolls!!.

Living example - city infrastructure development

A successful unique story in analysing, planning, developing and executing a city development plan of sorts. This exercise has to be one very good example to come out in the modern times... The Beijing Olympics 2008, and related infrastructure development.

Here is the Beijing Olympic Action Plan.

And to highlight the achievement, here is an extract from Section I.4.
