Cycle parking bays

I came across a great initiative by some of the Praja members, to help promote cycling in the city. In addition to designing cycling lanes and stations at metro, it will be great idea to identify parking bays in CBD and other places in Bangalore to securely store our bikes.

Below are some ideas of the parking bay designs from around the world, that will help us to promote biking in the city.

This one is of interesting design and can be manufactured from recycled plastic. As you can see the stand itself is fixed to the ground with few bolts, and location can be changed easily without much construction.

Parking bay design with minimum investment

 

Parking bay with PVC cover. This protects bikes from rain.

 

Solar PV enabled cycle stand from Japan, that helps generate power and also charge e-bikes :)

 

Very economical cycle storage unit which can be locked. This is a must for storing the bikes overnight at bike rental places at Metro stations.
