The day long conference started with the welcome address by Mr. L Krishnan, Chairman CII Karnataka State Council. The irony of rapid urbanization according to him was that we expect different results with identical actions. The vehicles to people ratio has increased rapidly which is holding the environment to ransom. Some disturbing news does make us sit up and think.

Expectations from Railway Budget 2013-2014

CII is organizing a one day conference here in Bangalore on "Sustainable Urban Infrastructure", to discuss on challenges and draw solutions for sustainable Bangalore City in terms of urbanization, urban growth, real estate, housing, basic services, transport, etc.

With the report prepared by RITES, suggesting that Hejjala on Mysore road be developed as a terminal, it is only obvious that in future, it might even house the long distance trains entering and leaving Bangalore. Hence, in order to facilitate the smooth movement of trains in all directions, I feel that the following railway lines are needed :

Fixing accountability for BBMP's works

One of the concrete slabs, covering the drain across the road junction in front of our residential complex (in S T Bed layout, Koramangala) main gate, developed cracks somewhere along, and eventually gave way around the middle of last week (see picture below), posing a hazard, particularly to pedestrians and two-whheler riders.
